The Blighty Grouse Grind

Posted on: Sunday, July 5th, 2009 in: Crazy thing to do!, Long run, Photos, Videos

Inspired by Daren’s recent ascent of the Grouse Grind in Vancouver, which rises 933m in a distance of 2.9km, I [stupidly] decided to replicate his feat right here in Blighty.
I scoured the map for likely candidates and the only hill that I could find with that gradient was Wolstonbury, which I stormed back in April [...]

Circling

After the heat of the last few days, it was a little cooler sitting outside this morning with my espresso and my current book, Synchronicity, The Inner Path of Leadership by Joseph Jaworski.
The lower temperature drew me to do some more fartleks and so off to the Common I trotted.  It is such a lovely [...]

Crawling towards The Soul Katz

Posted on: Sunday, February 15th, 2009 in: Great things to do!, Videos

Managed to get back in the pool on Thursday night for 45 minutes and found that it’s easier to count in sets of four than singly.  Three breast-stroked and a length crawled.  At the end of the session I did an extra crawl, so out of 56 lengths I managed 15 crawlies.  Still pretty knacked [...]

Do you really think I would go running in weather like this?

Are you crazy?

Yes?

I was contentedly supping on my quad-spresso this morning, tucked up in my reading chair with a truly excellent book, The Lost Village, by Richard Askwith.

Get on out there!

I was helping lay the concrete base for a barn this morning so I didn’t go running, but I thought you might like to get a sense of what it’s like to be in my shoes from the following short video, taken on Monday.  And for all of you that have been putting off going [...]
